Poet Lauren Camp to appear at Red Feather Library

Panhandle Creek Press is thrilled to welcome poet Lauren Camp for a two-week residency in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Lauren is the first recipient of the annual Sam Hamill Writer-in-Residence on Panhandle Creek.

Lauren will share her work at the Red Feather Library this Saturday, July 11th, from 4:30-6pm. The event is free and open to the public.

The Why, When and What of Poetry

Join former New Mexico Poet Laureate Lauren Camp for a casual conversation about poetry and the chance to ask and learn more about this sometimes mystifying art form. Lauren will read a few poems from two recent collections: Is Is Enough (Texas Review Press, 2026), a book about family, heritage and dementia, and In Old Sky (Grand Canyon Conservancy, 2024), which grew out of her experience as Astronomer-in-Residence at Grand Canyon National Park. You might even get a chance to put down your own thoughts in a gentle and encouraging short exercise.

Lauren Camp is the author of nine books, most recently Is Is Enough (Texas Review Press, 2026) and In Old Sky (Grand Canyon Conservancy, 2024), which she wrote as Astronomer-in-Residence at Grand Canyon National Park. Other honors include fellowships from the Academy of American Poets and Black Earth Institute, a Dorset Prize, and finalist citations for the Arab American Book Award and Adrienne Rich Award. Her poems have been translated into Mandarin, Turkish, Spanish, French, and Arabic. She served as the second New Mexico Poet Laureate (2022-25). www.laurencamp.com
