Leslie Lumeh’s paintings hang in the collections of the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the European Union delegation in Monrovia. They have also traveled through the U.S. State Department’s Art in Embassies program, which shares art as a form of cultural diplomacy.
Born in Liberia and now painting in France, Leslie has illustrated many children’s books and trained young illustrators in Liberia and Sierra Leone. His work is on exhibit in France now, and Spiralis Gallery in Easton, Maryland, which represents him in the U.S., will host an exhibition of his paintings this November.
From thick, bright oils to quiet watercolors, Leslie paints everyday people with remarkable tenderness. We’re honored that he illustrated two of our fall books: Superhero Kids by Micaela Myers, out November 3, and In Monrovia, the River Visits the Sea by Patricia Jabbeh Wesley, coming soon from Ardea Herodias Books.
Superhero Kids, by Micaela Myers, publishes on November 3rd, 2026.
