Nancy Johnson, the daughter of a naval officer, lived in many places as a child. After marrying a petroleum engineer, she lived in many more places. Nancy was a teacher, later earning a degree in nursing. She and her husband moved to Fort Collins to be near their children. Nancy is the author of Letters from Egypt: Four Years of Family Life Beneath the Pyramids, Essence of Our Humanity: Portraits of My Beloved Psychiatric Patients, and the forthcoming collection, In Gratitude for Life, Love, Family & Friends.
Essence of Our Humanity
In the early 1980s, Nancy Johnson served as a nurse in a Louisiana psychiatric hospital where she grew to care deeply for her patients. The experience deepened her faith, and taught her valuable lessons about life, the fragility and resilience of the human spirit, and the healing power of a forest path. In this small book with a big heart, you’ll meet Nancy’s patients and, maybe even, come to love them, too.
