Carmel Mawle


Carmel Mawle is a writer, photographer and artist who lives in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Carmel founded Writing for Peace in 2011, and served as Editor-in-Chief of DoveTales, An International Journal of the Arts from 2012-2022, publishing authors from every continent. In 2023, she founded Panhandle Creek Press, where she serves as Managing Editor.

She is the author of The Golden Rule, the first book in the “Collected Wisdom” series, published by Ardea Herodias Books.

Twice nominated for the Pushcart Prize, her short stories, essays, and poetry have been published in Smokelong Quarterly, Vox Populi, Literary Mama, Hive Avenue, Mom Egg Review, KNOT Magazine, and many others. Carmel’s short story, “Heading South,” earned Honorable Mention in the 2023 Rick Demarinis Short Story Contest, and is published in Cutthroat, A Journal of the Arts 28. Her poem, “Enough” recently appeared in HerWords, Black Mountain Press.

She and her husband are finishing construction on a beautiful cabin that will house the press and associated reading and musical events, as well as a bed and breakfast and writers’ retreat overlooking Panhandle Creek.
