Mission Statement

Our mission is to cultivate unique voices in literature, to develop books that challenge readers to grow their capacity for empathy, and to nurture and support the writer through the creative process.

Our Vision

At Panhandle Creek Press, our vision is to be the leading publisher of quality books that educate, entertain, and inspire readers across the globe. We are committed to providing a platform for authors to share their stories with the world, to cultivate unique voices in literature, to develop books that challenge readers to grow their capacity for empathy, and to nurture and support the writer through the creative process.

Our Background

As Editor-in-Chief of DoveTales, an International Journal of the Arts, Carmel Mawle edited and published hundreds of authors and artists.
She founded Panhandle Creek Press in 2024 to continue lifting unique voices and perspectives into the collective body of literature. Panhandle Creek Press is dedicated to creating beautiful books and helping authors achieve their goals.

Twice nominated for the Pushcart Prize, Carmel’s short stories, essays, and poetry have been published in magazines and journals, including Smokelong Quarterly, KNOTS Literary Magazine, Lucid Moose Lit, and most recently in Literary Mama and Hive Avenue. Carmel’s short story, “Heading South,” won honorable mention in the 2023 Rick Demarinis Short Story Contest and is now available in Cutthroat, A Journal of the Arts 28. Her poem, “Enough,” is forthcoming in HerWords, a publication of Black Mountain Press.

Our Authors

We look forward to working with a diverse group of talented authors, poets, and artists who share our belief that storytelling can change the world. Our authors will write in a variety of genres, including poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and children’s books.

Submissions

We are working with current authors and preparing to begin accepting submissions. Our reading period will open for unsolicited submissions of full-length poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and children’s books manuscripts between June 1st and September 30th.
