We were thrilled to have Never Only cover artist, Esperanza Walker, join us to talk about her art form and how she managed this extensive project while attending school.
Laurie read an excerpt from Never Only that captivated the audience, including many curious children. The reading spawned excellent questions from the audience, covering topics ranging from her writing process to her fieldwork as a biologist. Laurie’s answers were knowledgeable, as we would expect from her science background, but also accessible enough to leave us with a
sense of hope. Yes, she assured us, our environmental crisis is caused by mankind, but we also have the power to change this course.
After signing copies of Never Only, Laurie led a fascinating tour of the beautiful conservatory.
