Laurie Fairchild

Debut Author of Never Only, Release Date: April 22nd, Earth Day

Laurie Fairchild grew up moving around the country with her family to different states where my Dad worked on building and fixing big dams (he was a geologist).  She lived in rural areas for most of her life, where she got her love of the outdoors, horses, and exploring new habitats.

Laurie earned a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from University of Wyoming, and a Masters in Water Resources Science from University of Minnesota.

Laurie started her career in Alaska, working as a biological technician during the infamous Exxon Valdez Oil Spill. After that, she conducted seabird productivity work on the Pribilof Islands in the Bering Sea for several summers. She spent her entire career working in various positions with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, retiring in 2019 as a habitat and wildlife biologist working with landowners in Minnesota.

Laurie’s debut novel, Never Only, asks the question: how would Mother Nature feel about our current reality, and what might she be inclined to do about it? With the insight only a habitat and wildlife biologist can bring to these questions, Laurie Fairchild leads the reader on a wild ride with humor, poignancy, and the highest stakes imaginable.
